We developed cloud-based simulation tools for SailGP yacht design and performance analysis.
In collaboration with Oracle, Prismatic Studios created a comprehensive suite of simulation and visualisation tools for SailGP. This groundbreaking project includes a Yacht Configurator and Design Tool that empowers engineers to experiment with various yacht configurations and visualise their performance in real-time. Designers and stakeholders can view pre-calculated motion data and gain insights into boat performance. Using Pixel Streaming technology, the simulation runs within Oracle Cloud, allowing designers to access it through any web browser, regardless of device or location.
We built a VR racing simulator for professional sailing training.
The project evolved to create an immersive training environment for professional sailors. This cutting-edge simulator leverages real-time physics simulations, along with custom racing peripherals, motion platforms and VR technology to replicate the challenges and excitement of SailGP racing. By harnessing the power of these tools, SailGP teams can optimise their designs, refine their strategies, and ultimately elevate their performance on the water.
We engineered realistic physics and multiplayer racing capabilities using Unreal Engine.
Unreal Engine’s real-time rendering capabilities create immersive virtual environments that seamlessly integrate with Oracle Cloud. Real-time physics simulations are executed and streamed to VR headsets, ensuring accurate boat dynamics and realistic water interactions. Epic Online Services facilitates multiplayer functionality, enabling remote training and competition. A custom Gerstner wave simulation, combined with geospatial data, generates dynamic and realistic water surfaces within iconic race venues. This innovative approach showcases the power of Unreal Engine and cloud-based technologies in revolutionising training and performance optimisation in the world of sailing.
